It struck me again this week the double meaning of the word retreat, and perhaps it is not contrasting meanings. To retreat would be to go back, reverse, return. It also refers to an escape, a time away from everyday hustle and bustle to reflect and review.
When I meet with tough circumstances and it feels like I am wading through the mud, one of my first actions is to press on. This has led to an energy and fun sapping time, I just don’t like it.
So my challenge to you this week is to consider where you are meeting resistance, what seems heavy going, hard work? Retreat – go back in the other direction, take time to reflect or simply take a completely and utterly different route.
Later this year I am planning to host a full retreat, probably over a weekend, at an appropriate chilled out venue and invite you to join me to stop, realign, re-assess what works and what doesn’t and renew that clarity over what your doing and where you are headed. If this sounds interesting and you can imagine yourself there, let me know and I’ll keep you updated as the idea develops.
Keep it simply effective
