3. You’re taking ‘gap’ tasks with you, everywhere you go
When the task list increases and your focus gets blurred, everything begins to share the same sense of urgency. You begin to move, talk and make decisions erratically. You’ve reached the point needing “Pause”.
We have convinced ourselves that we are only valuable, effective and worthwhile to ourselves and those around us when we are ‘in task’. Whilst this can sometimes be true; the greatest value, immense self-worth, sense of purpose, certainty and feelings of well-being can only come to us in moments when we allow things to settle.
The gaps that appear in your schedule (cancelled appointments, stationary traffic, travel delays, toilet breaks, lunch breaks for goodness sake) are actually gifts and golden opportunities for you to access the potential that lies just below the surface.
I challenge you to notice your gaps over the next 48 hours and as each occurs.
Chose ‘nothing’ as the task to complete.
Do nothing brilliantly – sit, breathe concioulsy and deeply for a few minutes, ask yourself what you want to achieve over the next few hours, walk slowly.
You may be pleasantly surprised at what you allow into your thinking in your PSP – the now powerful strategic personal gaps.
Then pick it all up again and get on!
Good luck and keep me informed,
S
